The Highlander
The Highlander: Issue I, Volume 11: Students find new ways to cope with rising college expectations
For my first time creating and writing a spread, I wanted to test out the various features of InDesign, the designing software we use. I was particularly interested in how the text could be manipulated to fit around illustrations in the design. This opportunity also allowed me to develop my Photoshop skills, to fix errors in the photography and add illustrations on top of the initial photograph.

The Highlander: Issue V, Volume 11: The taste of New Years
This particular spread was very special to me, as I got to introduce my culture to the greater local community, while highlighting other Asian cultures. I thought the best way to quickly expose the culture in an easily understood way was through the universal language of food, which I conveyed through illustrations and recipes.

The Highlander: Issue I, Volume 12: Tastes of December
This is a continuation of my investigation of my culinary heritage, as well as an exploration of other winter holiday traditions around the world. I was able to interview a variety of people and learn about their cultures through the stories they told, and research for the article sections and illustrations. Working together with a partner allowed me to go more in-depth to my interviewees' stories and properly portray their culture through illustrations.

The Highlander: Issue V, Volume 12: Closing the global gap in entertainment
My interest in Asian media led to this article, which researched the growing influence of Asian television and movies in American media, from K-dramas to Chinese investment in Hollywood films. It also includes a few reviews of some of my favorite drama series from Korea and China. The watercolor textures in the background convey the lighthearted nature of the topic at hand, and adds a pop of color in an otherwise sparse design.

Social Media
As temporary manager for social media during junior year first semester, I also designed updates for Instagram stories, covering larger topics that our readers may not be aware of, or not know the full details about. I focused on making the designs easy to read, without leaving out too much context about the situations.
